Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Desastre, a native macOS application (the "Application"), handles information. The Application is operated by Thais Rodríguez Coso (the "Service Provider").
By using the Application, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This policy forms part of the Terms of Use.
Summary
Desastre is designed to keep your data on your device. The Application scans your Mac's local filesystem to discover and preview AI tool configuration files. The contents of those files never leave your device and are never transmitted to the Service Provider or any third party. The only information that leaves your device is a small amount of anonymous usage and diagnostic analytics, described below.
Information the Application Accesses on Your Device
To do its job, the Application reads files and folders on your Mac — primarily AI tool configuration files (such as those used by Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and similar tools). This access works as follows:
On first launch, the Application asks you, via the standard macOS open panel, to grant access to your home folder. This grant is stored locally as a security-scoped bookmark and is used only to read configuration files for display within the app.
The Application reads and previews these files locally. It does not upload, copy off-device, or share the contents of any file you scan or preview.
This file access happens entirely on your device. The Service Provider does not receive, see, or store the contents of your files.
Information Collected Through Analytics
The Application uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect limited, anonymous usage and diagnostic information that helps the Service Provider understand how the Application is used and improve it. This may include:
Anonymous app usage signals (for example, that the app was launched for the first time)
Anonymous purchase confirmation events, which may include the product identifier, currency code, store country code, and store environment (these tell the Service Provider that a purchase occurred and in which market — they do not identify you)
Basic technical information such as app version, operating system version, device type, and locale
TelemetryDeck is designed to be privacy-preserving and does not collect personally identifying information or persistent device identifiers that can be traced back to you. It does not use this data to build advertising profiles or track you across other apps or websites. For details, see TelemetryDeck's privacy documentation at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
The Application does not collect the contents of your configuration files, documents, or other personal data stored on your device.
How the Information Is Used
The anonymous analytics described above are used solely to:
Understand how many people use the Application and how often
Confirm that purchases complete successfully
Diagnose problems and improve the Application's stability and features
The Service Provider does not sell your data and does not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Retention
Anonymous analytics are retained by the analytics provider for as long as needed for the purposes described above, in accordance with that provider's retention practices. Because this data is anonymous, it cannot be used to identify or contact you. Files read by the Application are never retained off your device.
Third-Party Services
The Application relies on the following third parties, each with its own privacy practices:
Apple — for app distribution, purchases, and receipt verification through the App Store. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
TelemetryDeck — for anonymous analytics, as described above. See https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the Application does not collect personally identifying information, it does not knowingly process any such data from children.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data, such as the rights to access, correct, or delete it. Because the Application collects only anonymous analytics and does not store personal data that identifies you, the Service Provider generally holds no information that can be linked to you. If you have questions about your rights, contact the Service Provider using the details below.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page, and material changes may be communicated through the Application or the App Store listing. Your continued use of the Application after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
